7 Basic Fundamentals of #mirrorwork

Updated: Dec 15, 2024

Stepping Out of the Shadow. A Mini-series on mirrorwork. (Part One)

A beginners reflection.

Have you felt yourself shifting lately? Mine felt like I was living .. but not in who I knew I could be? (if that makes sense).

I remember craving this intense feeling for something more. But didn’t understand what. Of course time passes.. life continues .. and nothing happens —well so you think, but it does. Internally, you begin shifting your mindset subconsciously to feed this craving your spirit wants.

#Shifting is "moving your consciousness from one reality to another; by taking a new direction either physically or in thought." Here's my story of when I recognized it was starting to happen.

There was this feeling of wanting a deeper understanding of SELF, surrounding self-esteem, and what unconditional love meant. Also there was this random need to suddenly be alone. I began noticing small changes like taking a different route home from work (just because), or this overall feeling of just wanting peace. I started going places alone to sit and “think” or at times “people watch." I know I’m not the only one who does this!

Whether it was a parking lot of the store I wanted to go in, or the famous "sitting" outside of your home after pulling up and completely losing track of time. And the big one, that felt personal for me "was becoming less obsessive about having a baby."

It was confirmation that okay... something is happening.

So I started listening to my inner guidance. It felt as my body was screaming at me, in ways that made me want to face my insecurities and explore the internal loudness. I began naturally as everyone does, with Google. Researching topics ranging from: #selflove #overthinking (my vice), #horoscopes (my favorite unexplored thing from childhood), #meditating #journaling and more.

Finding the tools come after taking the first step.

While Meditation and Mirror-Work were top on my list, horoscopes and cosmic learning also excited me. But the endless information became overwhelming, so I decided to take a break from Google and focus on a few of the things that sparked my interest. I began reading more, journaling, and the practice of meditation.

Keeping reading, if you would like to explore the benefits of #MirrorWork.

Intentional Growth is different. You are not healing by mistake. You begin purposely releasing fear, and all energy that no longer feels like YOU anymore. An unexplainable craving for c h a n g e fills your temple — and you begin to question who you are.

I mean really who you are?

Mirrorwork; allowed me to embrace the reboot I desperately needed to heal. The biggest surprise and self-realization was admitting that "it was ME who made the intentional and unintentional choice to run from myself."

Remember, Healing is Ongoing. Especially when it finally starts! But we have to be willing to accept with or without resistance the change we are requiring to live in our definition of FREEDOM.

Perhaps, you're new to the idea of mirror work or not quite sure how to get started. Below are a few snippets, that helped me understand its purpose and benefits.

  1. Mirror Work is #Intentional.

  2. Mirror Work is #Internal.

  3. Mirror Work is #Ongoing.

  4. Mirror Work is #Releasing.

  5. Mirror Work is #Accepting.

  6. Mirror Work is #Embracing.

  7. Mirror Work is #Supporting.

These basic fundamentals helped me to better understand that it isn't a race. It will not be the same as another. And there is really no right or wrong way.

In the beginning.

You simply, look into a mirror; whenever you choose or in every mirror you see and take note of how you feel. Embrace it; but don't beat yourself up. Simply recognize the emotion that is staring back at you.

The beginning is often the hardest for most people; because we come face to face with what others have made us feel insecure about.

Allowing others judgment of us to be the affirmation for the decision about ourselves is simply put, "a waste of good energy." The Creator uniquely created us as we should be. One thing I’ve learned and experienced over time is that when we love & accept ourselves for exactly who we are; opinions cannot penetrate the soul.

The absence of inner-self ; allows the hurt to lie dormant within us.

In the beginning stages of mirror-work, it's important to release any negative emotion each time you see a mirror, by embracing the opposite of that initial feeling. For example, I look weird, vs. there is only one me! Some people choose to list all of the things they see in the initial mirror session, while others decide to work in stages.

I suggest; honoring what feels right for you in every moment. Either practice leads to confidence with living a life surrounding yourself with love and acceptance. Each journey of mirror-work takes on many forms, that become personal over time.

The purpose is to uncover your truest self that lies beneath the flesh. Understanding, it's the energy within that creates the appearance we begin to embody and reflect on the outside.

Allow the deepest of you to shine through vulnerably and I promise you will fall more in love with the reflection in the mirror and also discover the reason you started to feel

The Shift.

There's something about a person who genuinely falls in love with themselves.

The Glow shines from Within.
